As pool builders for over 82 years, it's safe to say that the number one question we get is, "How much does it cost to build a pool?" Unfortunately, that's impossible to answer because no two projects are the same. BUT -  we get it; it's hard to plan for any budget or financing if you don't have any idea of the cost. With our experience, we have found that the majority of our base pool packages continuing into 2024 - no matter the type of pool - start at $95,000.

It’s not uncommon to hear homeowners throw out numbers such as $40,000 - $50,000, but

an accurate budget for any inground swimming pool project must include components that surround the pool as well.

At Browning, our goal is to speak in numbers that will

help clients understand the total cost for the entire project,

not just the swimming pool itself.

We’ve put together a list of the top 5 hidden costs necessary for any pool project that you need to be aware of. The size and scope of your particular project will determine where you fall within the ranges given below.

1 / FENCING
Every swimming pool needs a fence. IT IS REQUIRED BY LAW! When we provide you with a proposal, it will include an economical yet attractive black aluminum fence.
BUDGET ALLOWANCE: $8,000 - $12,000

2 / ELECTRICAL
Every swimming pool needs electricity, and it should be included in your budget allowance from the beginning. The scope of your project will determine the extent of electrical work.
BUDGET ALLOWANCE: $7,000 - $8,500

3 / SITE WORK
Every backyard needs site work to some extent, beginning with property access, dirt hauling, removal, and possible tree removal. Slopes can push this cost up, so retaining walls are a possibility. If sloping is severe, terraced retaining walls may be necessary, which will drive the cost to the higher end of the budget allowance. When we visit your property for a site evaluation, we can determine the extent of site work needed.
BUDGET ALLOWANCE: $7,000 - $10,000, and if severe sloping is present, this number can increase significantly.

4 / ADDITIONAL CONCRETE
Concrete is the most economical patio option. We include 500 sq.ft.; however, most homeowners add additional patio to their pool.
BUDGET ALLOWANCE: $8,500-$12,000

5 / WATER
Doesn't this seem like a no-brainer? We are always surprised when water isn't included in a proposal.
BUDGET ALLOWANCE: $2,000 - $3,000

So, to answer the question, "How much does it cost to build a swimming pool?" Start with a budget of $95,000 and make sure that whoever you talk to about building a pool includes everything needed for a complete project.
